Here are a few snaps from our little Winter Solstice gathering. My most special friends and I lit candles and watched the crystals glittering in the moonlight as we made our intentions and burned them on the fire while calling the light and warmth into our lives. My most special friends in the world. What a wonderful time to be celebrating together.
Winter Solstice happens when the path of the sun in the sky is farthest south. Therefore it is the day that has the least day light. It also marks the beginning of winter which lasts until the vernal equinox in March. It is known in many cultures as the time of rebirth.
'Look at winter with winter eyes as smoke curls from roof tops to clear cobalt skies.
Breathe in winter past winter nose: The sweet scent of black birch where velvet moss grows.
Walk through winter with winter feet on crackling ice or sloshy wet sleet.
Look at winter with winter eyes: The rustling of oak leaves as spring slowly nears'.
